Singer Asha Bhosle enters Guinness World Records for most single studio recordings

The Bollywood singer with the most number of recorded songs is Asha Bhosle. Over her career spanning more than seven decades, Asha Bhosle has recorded more than 11,000 songs in various languages, primarily in Hindi. She is renowned for her versatility, having sung in a wide range of genres including classical, pop, ghazals, and folk songs. Her extensive repertoire has earned her recognition in the Guinness World Records as the most recorded artist in music history.

Singing legend Asha Bhosle entered the Guinness World Records on Thursday for the most single studio recordings. She has reportedly recorded up to 11,000 solos, duets and chorus-backed songs in over 20 Indian languages since 1947.

Asha, who has evergreen numbers like “Dum maro dum”, “Mehbooba mehbooba” (“Sholay”), “Piya tu ab to aaja” (“Caravan”) and “Chura liya hai tumne jo dil ko” (“Yaadon ki Baraat”) to her credit, was conferred with the Guinness honour at the Asian awards function held in London, a statement said.

Asha Bhosle was recognized by the Guinness World Records in 2011 as the most recorded artist in music history. This recognition was based on her extensive catalog, which spans over seven decades, beginning from her early recordings in the 1940s up to her continued contributions to music. Her versatility and ability to adapt to changing musical trends have made her a beloved and enduring figure in Bollywood and Indian music globally.

She has collaborated with numerous composers, including R.D. Burman, O.P. Nayyar, and A.R. Rahman, and her voice has graced countless classic and iconic songs in Indian cinema.
